xplorers is an eight- level reading scheme written specifically for young learners of English. Informed by the National Literacy Strategy and by teaching methodology for first language speakers of English, Explorers is supported by an understanding of the needs of young learners and teachers of English. The scheme, which currently has 64 titles, can be used alongside any primary course. Black Beauty is born in a happy home. But he and his friend Ginger go through many changes as they are sold from owner to owner, experiencing happiness - and great sadness - along the way.
