René Goscinny sa narodil 14. augusta 1926 v Paríži a stal sa jedným z najvýznamnejších francouzských komiksových scenáristov 20. storočia, známy predovšetkým vďaka sériám Asterix a Le petit Nicolas.
René Goscinny sa narodil 14. augusta 1926 v Paríži v rodine židovských imigrantov. Jeho otec, inžinier v chemickom priemysle, pochádzal z Poľska, a matka z Ukrajiny.
V roku 1928 sa rodina presťahovala do Argentíny. Goscinny vyrastal v Buenos Aires, kde navštevoval francúzske lýceum. Neskôr krátke obdobie pracoval v New Yorku.
Goscinny sa vrátil do Francúzska začiatkom 50. rokov a začal sa venovať literárnej tvorbe. Jedným z jeho prvých úspechov bola spolupráca s Jean-Jacques Sempém, s ktorým stvorili postavu Mikuláša v sérii Le petit Nicolas. Táto séria zaznamenala značný úspech a položila základy Goscinnyho popularity.
Goscinnyho najväčší úspech však prišiel s komiksmi o Asterixovi, ktoré kreslil Albert Uderzo. Táto séria sa stala kultovým fenoménom a bola preložená do mnohých jazykov. Séria Asterix bola preložená do viac ako stovky jazykov a patrí k najčítanejším francúzskym literárnym dielam.
Goscinnyho diela sú veľmi zaujímavé svojím humorom a satirou. Séria Asterix kombinuje historické udalosti s fantastickými prvkami, čo čitateľom prináša zaujímavé a vtipné príbehy. Le petit Nicolas zase zachycuje bežné situácie zo života detí, ktoré sú zobrazené s vtipom a empatiou.
